Sadness

>> Friday, May 30, 2008

Yesterday Elizabeth took it upon herself to trim her own hair. Two or three BIG chunks cut at shoulder length just under her ears. I was bent to say the least. We have been growing her hair out for the past year from the LAST time she did this! I was so sad to have to cut her hair into a pixie cut again but it had to be done.

Thank God it's Thursday!! Randomness

>> Thursday, May 29, 2008

There is something so heartwarming about watching my son learn. Yes, its learning by TV but hey it is working! We were watching the wiggles this morning, very educational television, and the Monkey Dance came on. Watching Christopher do the monkey, and say Ooo aaahh Ooo aaahh just makes me smile so much!

I heart Thursdays because it is the end of the week for me. Today is nice because it is also payday which, at only 1.50 an hour doesn't seem worth it, is still nice!

The boring life of a housewife comes true today as I have a mountain of laundry to do. Luckily, however, it is a warm sunny windy day and that means I can hang the laundry out on the clothes line. I love the smell of fresh air laundry! Saving some on the electric bill is a bonus too with the gas prices these days. Speaking of which, did you know that a gallon of Starbucks Latte equals out to around 32 dollars! Hmm, makes you think twice about bitching about gas prices while you stand in line for a Grande doesn't it??

I will leave you with this picture I took on Sunday while we were out and about.

Something STINKS in my backyard!

>> Monday, May 26, 2008

I will try and keep this as family friendly as I can but I am totally grossed out!

I share a house with another older couple who have a dog and basically have been a PITA since we moved in here. One thing after another. The first summer we were here, we had landlord fence off a small area for her little dog to poop in and stay OFF the lawn where Elizabeth played. We have a nice big yard and they are welcome to use it just NO DOGS!

I went down today to hang up laundry and water my strawberries and I find not one..not two but FIVE piles of dog poop!! GROSS!! It is all deep in the nice lush grass(where I was going to set the little kiddie pool up today).

A few weeks ago, I asked our landlord to fence off the driveway with a gate so the kids wouldn't go near the cars when they were playing. He hasn't yet and now I am really irritated. I know if the fence was up, we would have a poop free yard still.

I am positive it was downstairs people's dog or a friend of theirs but even if it was just a stray, the point is, NO POOP IN THE BACK YARD!!

I left a message for him to call me back immediately.

Central Park, Schnectady

>> Sunday, May 25, 2008

Today we decided to pick up some popeyes to go and head down to Central Park to eat. The food was good, the kids played and I snapped a few pictures.

It wasn't until we got home and I uploaded the picture when I realized something funny. Not haha funny but odd. There was a nice smudge over the left side of all the photos! Hmm what could of caused this smudge? I bet he is a little less then 3 feet tall and goes by the initials CWLB!

These kind of remind me of The Ring, with Chris all blurred out.

He speaks!!

>> Saturday, May 24, 2008

OK so it wasn't long ago that I was whining about Christopher not talking. In a week he has gone from
mama
dada
baba
bye
hi

to the addition of
juice
dinner
cracker
cookie
up
down
thank you

Now most of these are probably only coherent to Chris and I but the point is he is TRYING to speak! He says some clear then others, some he is just mimicking the tone/sound of the word but he is coming along very well!

One thing

>> Friday, May 23, 2008

If there was one thing that I could say I really enjoy, it would be movies. I love them. Good ones. Bad ones. Comedy or adventure. I even like really really horrible ones like Rock n Roll High School Forever. There was a good hour and half of brain cell murder watching that!

I love movies. I prefer to watch in the comfort of my own home. Snuggled up on the sofa in my jammies with a big bowl of popcorn and a ice cold pepsi.

Elizabeth started her love of movies as well. I'm probably a bad mom but she LOVES any movie! She especially loves movies with monsters or ghosts. At age four she has a wonderful sense of what is real and what is make believe. I don't know if it is a good thing to expose her to this so early on but I think that knowing the difference between reality and fiction is very important. I want her to know there are bad in this world and to not shelter her from reality but to still know the fun of her own imagination. Riding a pony in a chalk drawing with Mary Poppins or playing Jumanji. Dancing with Prince Charming and having a laugh at Mater!

Movies are great.

The wiggles

I know many moms think that TV for kids is the devil and some use it just for a babysitter. I know some say "oh my kids will NEVER watch barney or the wiggles or the doodlebops" But when you watch my kids shake their butts to the songs, it makes all those negative moms look like idiots.

How is this bad?

Thank God it's Thursday!! Randomness

>> Thursday, May 22, 2008

Thursday is the beginning of my weekend. I have my nephew here from Monday-Thursday 3:30am-3:30pm most weeks. I love Thursdays. I honestly don't know how some moms deal with 3 or 4 children under the age of 4! I would LOVE another baby but not until mine are settled into a school routine, that is for sure!

So it is Thursday and we have a pretty set routine for Thursdays. I make scrambled eggs and toast for breakfast, the kids play, nap time, lunch, then music time to get their hearts pumping and then a Disney movie to settle down. Since the weather is getting better, I'm sure more trips outside to play in the back yard will fit in but with the rainy weather we have had no such luck yet.

I just realized that it is the end of May and Elizabeth will be going to preschool in a few months. I have not prepared her at all. So, during nap time for the boys, I really need to start focusing her on learning time. I keep saying I will do this but then I get busy and we never do but it is crunch time! I am going to pick up some workbooks and more flash cards over the summer and really get to business.

I'm not sure if I have an more randomness floating around in my head so I will end this post with one last thought.

I want corn nuts. Nacho flavored.

Taken to Heaven by her Angel Granddaughter

5 years

Today is the 5th anniversary of my sister's passing to heaven. After a long tough battle with breast cancer, she was finally free of pain but left many tears behind. It is hard for me to talk about my sister because I feel my words can never express properly how truly amazing she was. Everyone who met her, remembered her. She had the most explosive personality that just made people stop and take notice. True, it wasn't always in a positive way but for those who really knew her, she just made life better, more fun and always full of laughter. She loved everyone who entered her life and would always be there for support when you needed her, even if it was to hate someone just because they did you wrong.

I love you Cathy, I miss you forever.

The good the bad and the lemon fresh scent?

>> Monday, May 19, 2008

The Good: We had a great weekend. Chris went to connecticut on Saturday so the kids and I vegged out in our jammies all day and watched movies. I made brownies and later ordered pizza and wings. Elizabeth slept with me in the big bed which was a big treat for her. Sunday I did a major deep clean of my kitchen and pantry. I got rid of a bunch of boxes and put all the soda cans down on the porch.

The Bad: While cleaning, I think mostly cleaning the floor, I strained my back. I sneezed this morning and the pain in my back brought tears to my eyes. Thank god for my parents who sent me a big bottle of Canadian drugs! Robaxicet is little happy pills for my painful back!

Yummy summer salads great with bbq!!

>> Saturday, May 17, 2008

I thought I would post a few of our favorite(ok well MY favorite) summer salads.
Chris seems to think I'm on crack with the ingredients that I put in my macaroni salad but this coming from a man who likes a fried egg on his mac and cheese and mayo on his meatloaf, I'm not using him as an example of good taste. So here we go.

Potato Salad
15-20 baby potatos, cooked and cooled
6 hard boiled eggs, cooled and peeled
3 dill pickles, diced
2 or 3 radishes, sliced
2 stalks of celery, chopped
2 green onions, chopped

Dressing
1 cup of miracle whip (NOT real mayo, you need the sweet tang)
1 squirt of mustard
2 tsp of the dill pickle brine
1 tbsp dill weed
1 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp cayenne

Toss all the veg with the dressing and let chill for at least 3 hours to let the flavors incorperate

Macaroni Salad
1 pkg of your favorite small pasta
1/2 ham steak diced
1/2 cup of small cheddar cheese cubes
3 dill pickles, diced
2 or 3 radishes, sliced
2 stalks of celery, chopped
2 green onions, chopped

Dressing (same as above)
1 cup of miracle whip (NOT real mayo, you need the sweet tang)
1 squirt of mustard
2 tsp of the dill pickle brine
1 tbsp dill weed
1 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp cayenne

Now honestly, my Caesar Salad I can make the dressing but I really love Lighthouse Caesar dressing. It is usually found in the cooler of your produce section. It is really good so pick some of that up!

Caesar Salad
Romaine lettuce, washed, dried and chopped into bitesizes pieces
1/2 cup REAL parm cheese.
1/2 cup REAL bacon bits(just cut up and cook 3 or 4 pieces)
1 clove garlic finely diced
1 cup of croutons. I love the garlic cheese ones the best
1/2 jar of that Lighthouse Caesar dressing.

For the best results add everything except your croutons 1/2 hour before serving and set in the fridge. This will give it time to really soak in the dressing but not too long that it will get soggy. Add your croutons and yummy yummy!

Finally something in our own back yard for my kids to use all their built up energy!

I took them out yesterday to play on the new swing set and despite the sun in Christopher's eyes, it was a hit!

Today's Post pt 2.

>> Thursday, May 15, 2008

Christopher had his 18 month well baby checkup today. His ears are clear! YAY! They were not worried about his lack of speech and overall he is doing great. He has a little rash on his man parts and we got a prescription cream for that. He is 24 pounds and 33 inches tall now. Two shots later and a clean bill of health, my little man is doing great!

Today's Post pt 1.

We got the swing set yesterday. Chris and Mike took about 4 hours to get it all setup. After it was done, we had dinner then had to run to Walmart. It was pretty late when we got home so I didn't get any pictures of the kids playing on it and well today it is raining. I got a few pictures of the men building.
