Finally something in our own back yard for my kids to use all their built up energy!

I took them out yesterday to play on the new swing set and despite the sun in Christopher's eyes, it was a hit!

Today's Post pt 2.

>> Thursday, May 15, 2008

Christopher had his 18 month well baby checkup today. His ears are clear! YAY! They were not worried about his lack of speech and overall he is doing great. He has a little rash on his man parts and we got a prescription cream for that. He is 24 pounds and 33 inches tall now. Two shots later and a clean bill of health, my little man is doing great!

Today's Post pt 1.

We got the swing set yesterday. Chris and Mike took about 4 hours to get it all setup. After it was done, we had dinner then had to run to Walmart. It was pretty late when we got home so I didn't get any pictures of the kids playing on it and well today it is raining. I got a few pictures of the men building.

Burrowing into my brain

>> Tuesday, May 13, 2008

Christopher, who STILL can't talk, has learned to express himself with this amazing high pitched squeal that makes my blood boil! I wonder if it is possible for a child to permanently damage his own mothers ears? Even when the house is quiet, I hear it. When I'm in the shower and I know he is asleep, I hear it. I'm not totally unconvinced that my children have snuck into my room late at night, knocked me out with that weird yet pleasant smell of a cabbage patch(it must be chloroform) then drilled into my brain and inserted a device to make only me and dogs hear this squeal 24/7.

At the same time, this ear piercing sound that comes from his lungs has deafened Elizabeth to the point where she can only hear the words Play and Ice Cream. Do I sound like the adults from Charlie Brown when I talk? I know I talk fast but I'm pretty sure I am speaking clearly! Pick up your toys. Simple right? Straight forward? Maybe that one is too difficult lets try "Who wants Ice Cream?" Ahh there we go. Full attention! She is still young, is it possible to change the meaning of words? Can I change Ice Cream to mean it's bedtime!? Lets also change Chocolate to Stop taking your brothers toys and making him screech!!!

Sometimes I wish I drank more!

I heart Sims

>> Monday, May 12, 2008

There is very few video games I enjoy playing. I like GTA and I have a CSI game that I enjoy but Sims is a different story.

I love my little people with their weird language and urgent demands to go to the bathroom. I love to dress them, make them DTD, get pregnant and have more sims! I guess it all goes back to the days when I played with Barbies. Really this isn't any different except it's on a computer.

Now for those who don't know much about the sims games it is quiet simple. You get the basic game(Sims2) and then you can get add-on expansion packs which take the original game to much higher levels. University for your teens to get a good education and later on a great job. Nightlife for a fun evening out on the town maybe some bowling or ice skating, maybe just dinner with a new friend. Open for Business lets you create your own little entrepreneurship, even lemonade stands for the kids. Pets allows you to adopt cats, dogs, hamsters and birds. Seasons was a great add on as it created a time frame of years in your game. Winter is fun for snowball fights, raking piles of leaves to jump into in Autumn, gardening in the spring and summer.

For Mothers Day, my loving husband got me the two newest expansions. Bon Voyage adds a wonderful holiday getaway to your Sims life, because even they need a break! And Free Time which allows your Sims new and fun ways to build up their skills and hobbies.

To live the Sims life, you first created your subject or family if you wish. You can move them into a pre-built house or build one for them. The object of the game is simple. Choose a life path for them, be it family, romance, wealth, intelligence or a few others I can't remember right now. They need your normal basic needs. A comfortable place to sleep, a place to eat and cook meals, a bathroom with shower and toilet, some sort of entertainment, social interactions with friends and neighbors and career building skills.

Your Sim needs to support him or herself somehow. The daily newspaper offers 3 jobs as well as the internet. In order to move up in your career you need to keep your sims happy, fed, energized and skilled. Skills can be built up by reading books on cleaning, cooking and mechanics. Creating a masterpiece builds your creative side. Practicing the big speech in the mirror helps build charisma. Exercising to the tv or radio, doing yoga or buying some machines help keep your sim lean and trim!

This game never ends because there is always a new aspect being added to it, new family members being born and friendships made.

Sims is a great game and anyone who liked playing with Barbies or GI Joes as a child would probable love it as much as I do. Now, go forth and Sim!

A Mother's Love

A mother's Love
Author: Helen Steiner Rice

A Mother's love is something
that no one can explain,
It is made of deep devotion
and of sacrifice and pain,
It is endless and unselfish
and enduring come what may
For nothing can destroy it
or take that love away...
It is patient and forgiving
when all others are forsaking,
And it never fails or falters
even though the heart is breaking...
It believes beyond believing
when the world around condemns,
And it glows with all the beauty
of the rarest, brightest gems...
It is far beyond defining,
it defies all explanation,
And it still remains a secret
like the mysteries of creation...
A many splendour-ed miracle
man cannot understand
And another wondrous evidence
of God's tender guiding hand.

Happy Mothers Day to all my readers!

Breast milk

I had just come out of the shower and was sitting on the couch toweling off. Elizabeth was beside me and saw my naked boob.

"Why do you have a little boob on your big boob?"
"Umm, that is my nipple. You have them too but yours are tiny. When you were a baby, you would drink milk from mommy's boobies. You didn't use a bottle like Christopher"

*Cue horrified look on her face*

"WHAT!?!?!"

In time, when she has her own babies, she will understand. For now I guess it is just plain weird!

I got my order from ELF today

Here is the rundown

The liquid eyeliner is very easy to put on. It's not a pen but the brush which makes it so much nicer
The eye pencil works fine and comes with a sharpener as well
The eye widener(white) also comes with a sharpener
The lip gloss stick is very nice. The colour is subtle and it goes on smooth not sticky
I got the two in one mascara with both reg and waterproof and again it is fine
The shadow goes on smooth and doesn't seem to make those weird crease lines

The mineral makeup is about the only thing I wasn't impressed with

All in all, for a buck this stuff is good! I mean its not MAC or anything but when you only pay a dollar you really can't expect that!

This would be great for a person like my SIL who loves makeup and lots of colours and can't afford name brands or for a person who never wears makeup and wants something for a special occasion.

I think it was about 2 weeks for my order to come in.

I give e.l.f. 3 stars

This was my order
1 2117 New Moisture Care Lip Color Cherry Tart
1 2004 Brightening Eye Color Nouveau Neutrals
1 1713 Natural Lash Kit
1 2003 Brightening Eye Color Silver Lining
1 1712 Eye Widener White
1 1402 Earth & Water Mascara Duo Brown
1 4205 Waterproof liquid eyeliner Ash
1 1005 Brightening Eye Liner Ash
1 6101 Fair Foundation (for porcelain skin and neutral undertones)

Books of my childhood

I've been thinking I want to start reading Elizabeth real books. A chapter every night before bed. I was thinking back at the books I loved as a child. Freckle Juice by Judy Blume, all of the books by Roald Dahl, The Little house on the prairie series and my very favorite, Alice in Wonderland. I've been scoping out ebay to see if I can start building a little collection. I would also like to start buying the Harry Potter books. I haven't read any and have only seen a few of the movies but I think that would be a great way to spend time with Elizabeth. She loves books but at her age its more about the pictures then the story. I want her to fall in love with fiction. Anyone have any book donations to send to us, we would apprecate it!!

After another miserable failed attemps at ebay I decided to do a little scrapbooking. I pumped out 4 of my own and did a cute snow page from a layout I have.

Freaking ebay

>> Monday, May 5, 2008

So I'm trying to bid on a Wilton decorating tip set and I have lost out 3 times. I have one more I'm bidding on now and ohhh if I don't win I'm going to cry! OK so I lots of people lose what they are bidding on, even the person I just outbid but come on. I just want the tip set! LOL Something has to give! I know there are ebay stalkers out there. You know, the ones who wait until there is only 2 mins left in the auction before swooping in and snagging it right from under you! Really, if you are an ebay stalker, get a life!

On a happier note, my rhubarb roots should be coming today! Yay! I hope it warms up a bit and stops with the freeze warnings in the morning so I can go plant it. Hmmm rhubarb pie! Kinda makes your mouth get all juicy and tingly doesn't it!?

Chris and I got new phones yesterday. He was going to try and get me a Centro PDA but they were very expensive so he got me the next best affordable thing! A Rumor by LG. We got the little black ones and I just love the slide down keyboard! It does pictures and video, music and all the regular stuff. I love that it fits in my adorable Vera Bradley Cell holder(which a PDA would not) so I can keep it nice and clean.

We got a great deal thanks to Chris's friend Jesse so props to him! I wish it was sunny outside, I would put some pics and video of my kids. In the mean time, I did the most ghetto thing I could think of... I took pics of my background on my monitor! It looks almost like real!

Now off to download some ringtones!

Slightly insane, totally anal

>> Tuesday, April 29, 2008

So last night I started to plan Christopher's 2nd birthday. We are going to do a cars theme but with little actual cars decorations and more checkered race theme. Birthday Direct has awesome selection of decorations for great prices! Way better then anything you will find at Party City or Birthday in a Box.

I've also decided to do something very unique for his cake. I was looking on Wilton and found this awesome checkered cake pan.

So I was thinking, that would make an amazing race track cake! Add some white and black fondant checkers on the edge and make an oreo dirt track with some dyed green coconut in the middle!

Why is all this slightly insane and totally anal? His birthday isn't until October. And well, it's still April folks. Yeah.

Big Love

>> Monday, April 28, 2008

Big Love on HBO has been on for two seasons now and I just love this show. It makes me think though, could I ever live a plural marriage? One side of me says no way. Too much jealousy! The other part thinks hmm a couple more wives would help out! The family unity is very appealing, 3 or 4 parents instead of just 2.

Compound life with 50 yr olds marrying 13 yr olds is so far extreme. I wonder if the FLDS would agree to an age limit of waiting until girls are 18 to marry if they were legally allowed to live plural lives? If there was an age limit, what would be the harm in allowing men to have multiple wives? Let them marry legally within the laws. Their must be some common ground that can be reached. I understand they believe it is God's way but really if they were able to, could they not wait a few years? As it is now, they are marrying illegally anyway so what do they care. Perhaps a commitment ceremony to bind them without marriage until marriage is allowed. It could be some way to stop the marriage of young girls to older men, so things like what happened in Texas doesn't happen again. It would have to be a joint commitment from the FLDS communities as well as the government.

Ahh only in my little perfect world I have going on in my head I guess.

Mommy love

>> Friday, April 25, 2008

Do you ever look at your kids and are just overcome with the most powerful feeling of undeniable love? My kids drive me crazy, they really do. They fight, they whine, they scream. One look, just one and my heart melts. Little innocent faces, hugs and kisses and just the excitement in their eyes. The power of a mother's love for her children is unbreakable. I hope every woman who has love to share, can share it with her children. I know this is my second post today but I just needed to express these feelings before my heart exploded with gooey motherly love!

Anyone who knows me, knows I am a total Lost junkie! I love this show. Last nights episode had me on the edge of my chair and knots in my stomach! It has everything, action, sawyer, romance, sawyer, comedy, sawyer...oh and sawyer!!

If you don't watch it, really what is wrong with you? Here is some free advice, go to ABC Full Episode player and catch up on Seasons 1-3 as well as the missed episodes of season 4.

Ok so that was a slight promo for ABC but this is a must see show! It is not too late to be cool!
